That First Moment

From the moment I met him, it was quite clear that Kiwi was vastly different from his friend, Paco. Where Paco is often found sitting on Holly's shoulders and hands, Kiwi would bite anyone daring to approach him, so I limited myself to watch his spotted beauty from a distance. It wasn't until I found Kiwi sitting with Paco on Holly's shoulders and hands, that I dared to hold him as well. The moment his warm, little feet gripped onto my hand will forever be engraved in my heart. Although it took some bribery with a few tasty treats, I still feel so lucky to say that a bird so cautious trusted me enough to keep him steady above the ground. To make my day even better, the little guy even let me kiss his warm, soft belly. Because of this, the smell of sweet seeds will always be a favourite of mine. Thank you for the beautiful memories you have given me, Kiwi. I love you so much.
